What Does It Involve?

Shapes

These are a huge part of design, and are often used to make up logos, leaflets/flyers, and product design. For example, if you are an accountancy firm or something similar, you may opt for a more linear approach, whereas if you are in a creative industry, you may opt for a more open approach – with use of circles etc.

Colour

It goes without saying that colour is important in branding, as it should be instantly recognisable in your branding strategy. If you are a small business, it is unlikely that your brand will be recognised instantly by the colours you use (such as Coca Cola – red, or Cadbury’s – purple), but it is still important to maintain consistent colours throughout your Website Design, Graphic Design and all other marketing materials.

Typography

This is a particularly important aspect of design, especially if you are opting for a wordmark logo, as this is going to be on all of your marketing materials and therefore needs to represent your brand in an effective way. You need to ensure that any fonts you are using are consistently used and that they match all other marketing materials (your logo type should match the font on your website, for example).
